Senior Product Designer · Based in the U.S.

Jason
Scholefield

I’m a senior product designer with the experience and range to bring clarity to complex, regulated industries.

15+ years across product design, UX research, and frontend development. I've built enterprise platforms and shipped apps solo.

Product design, design systems, UX research, and frontend development in React, TypeScript, and Vue.

Healthcare, clinical trials, civic tech, and enterprise SaaS. These are industries where clarity and compliance both matter.

About me

I design and build products where mistakes matter: clinical trial platforms, HIPAA-compliant medical devices, intake systems for a children’s clinic. Most of that work starts as a mess. A missing feature becomes a support team’s problem. A form fights the phone call it should support. Nobody trusts the dashboard. I spend most of my time there, not in Figma, on purpose.

After fifteen years, I still design products and build them myself. I run the research and draw the wireframes. Then I write the React and TypeScript code that ships. If someone else does that work, I lose the details that matter.

I worked across game studios, civic tech, healthcare, and enterprise software. The industries change. The job stays the same. I find out what is actually broken. Then I fix that, not whatever is easiest to redesign.

What my colleagues think

“Working with Jason has been one of the highlights of the past year.

Jason is incredibly talented from a design perspective—his work is consistently thoughtful, fresh, and grounded in a deep understanding of the user experience. I always look forward to brainstorming and workshopping ideas with him because he has a way of seeing opportunities and details that others might miss.

What I appreciate most, though, is how collaborative he is. We've built a relationship where we're comfortable challenging each other's thinking, and I genuinely believe our ideas end up stronger because of it. Jason welcomes feedback, gives it thoughtfully, and approaches every conversation with curiosity rather than ego.

Through our CRO and experimentation work, he's helped raise the level of our program by combining strong research instincts, strategic thinking, and excellent design execution. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn how capable he is on the development side, which allows him to contribute in ways that extend far beyond design alone.

Any team would be fortunate to have Jason. He's a talented designer, a thoughtful partner, and someone who consistently makes the people around him better.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Jason at Medable for 7 months on complex product designs in healthcare. Throughout our collaboration, Jason demonstrated an expertise of the entire design process, from initial research to final implementation. He consistently delivered quality work with remarkable efficiency.

What set Jason apart is his communication skills. He brought a calm, steady presence to our team while working through complex clinical research workflows. His ability to communicate clearly contributed to smooth problem-solving throughout our projects.

Jason is thorough in his work, reliable, and a great collaborator. I strongly recommend him for any team tackling complex design challenges in a fast-paced startup environment.”

“I've worked with Jason in a variety of capacities over the years. And at more than one company. He is absolutely brilliant at everything from strategy to implementation. He is thoughtful. Experienced. Kind. And professional. He brings both calm and confidence, and is not only the perfect candidate to fill leadership UX roles but he improves the culture from the moment he joins a team. He's a rock star without the baggage. What more could you ask for?”

“It's rare to have the opportunity to work with a T-shaped individual like Jason Scholefield. His strong digital skill set and creative mind bring two very powerful components to LaneTerralever's digital production team. He can effectively collaborate with other disciplines within the agency, making him an invaluable resource in our client's success.

During his time spent at LaneTerralever, Jason quickly progressed from being a User Experience Architect, designing experiences using traditional methods of research, ideation, and documentation, into a more advanced role utilizing rapid prototyping methods and front-end development skills.

Jason has a passion for learning front-end frameworks, and his design skills have been integral in the creation of a Conversion Rate Optimization practice. Not only is he driven by creating engaging experiences, he is also passionate about driving tangible marketing results for our national and international client base.

Jason is exceptional to work with and he would be a valuable addition to any marketing team.”

“I've had the chance to work with Jason and watch him grow at Search Control over the last two years. Jason has grown in his knowledge of not only web marketing, but how it specifically relates to web design and development. Jason has a keen sense for design, and is able to produce astounding work through Photoshop, and convert designs into creative WordPress environments. I would recommend Jason for any business that is looking for a strong design and development lead.”
